Bio
Originally hailing from both Newark and Piscataway, New Jersey, DJ Parallax first paid his dues serving as a crate boy for a local group of deejays known as the East Orange United Syndicate. He developed a keen ear for music of all genres while traveling with the group. He also picked up a working knowledge of theory and composition while performing classical and jazz music with local school bands. Eventually he became a deejay with the Syndicate. While a member of the Syndicate, he co-founded another DJ group called Maximum Respect Entertainment and Imperial Productions after that.
After a hiatus, Parallax relocated the base of his operations to Atlanta, Georgia while working in several markets in the Northeast. He continues to add to his resume as a DJ, executive and industry tastemaker. He is currently serving double duty as the official DJ for New York-based Avenue1 (www.avenue1online.com) as well as Editor-At-Large. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Sniper Squad DJs, a successful conglomerate of industry professionals. Currently you can hear DJ Parallax mixing it up on his weekly radio show “Put Ya Hands Up” both on Wednesdays 5-6PM on www.worldcastradio.com and on www.partyradiousa.net Saturdays and Sundays from 12-2PM EST. He is also one of the featured weeknight quickmix DJs Monday-Thursday from 8-8:30PM on www.partyradiousa.net, and on his show Brass Knuckle Rap Saturdays from 11PM-12AM EST on www.swurvradio.com.
When asked about his moniker, he responds passionately, “Parallax is an angular shift in focus. You know when you go the eye doctor and he makes you look at the letters on the wall with one eye open- with the other covered- then you switch eyes? That’s called parallax. In essence, the DJ must create the momentum and keep the crowd’s focus. I make the crowd focus and take notice and then shift with me. It gives the audience an interesting performance- a strong alternative from what other DJs try to do.”
